Hello Everyone,
We apologize for our absence last month. Life happens! But we hope you had a great Memorial Day weekend. Summer fun has officially begun, and the Gourmet Girls trust you have some wonderful plans this season! I’ve written about Sisters on the Fly before. Now over 10,000 women strong, it’s the largest women’s organization in the U.S., with a focus on the outdoors. There are members in all 50 states as well as a presence in Canada, Australia and France. A Sister must be at least 21 years old to join but other than that, there aren’t too many rules… except these:
“No men, no kids, be nice & have fun!”
There are events where husbands and partners are allowed! And dogs too! So that’s all good.
And there’s no discrimination whatsoever over race, religion or sexual orientation, and as they say on their website, “We do our best to leave politics at home.” That’s good too! There are many other discussions to be had when you get 60 or so women together for a Sisters event. You can use your imagination on that one!
Seriously, our trip to Bass Lake was full of adventure! Kayaking on the lake is a tradition for many of the Sisters on the Fly.
Taking a spin around the lake with Captain Kathy. This is more my speed. LOL!
Being so close to Yosemite was too enticing not to make my yearly pilgrimage up there. The Gourmet Girls web designer and intrepid camper, Kathy Moran, who just became a Sister, drove us up in her recently purchased Minnie Winnie.
Here are a few photos of this year’s trek.
Have you been to Yosemite? I highly recommend it. I’ve not seen the dogwood in such bloom ever before!
Every trip to Yosemite is a delight and a new experience. I never tire of the waterfalls, flowing rivers, or nature’s bounty in the park, and I always discover something I haven’t noticed in the past. It’s truly rejuvenating to mind, body, and soul.
Are there places you’ve been to that give you the same restorative feeling? If so, let us know! I’d personally love to add it to my ever-growing bucket list!
Cheers and happy travels,
Gail, Denise and Lindsey
