Hello fellow campers and lovers of food and wine! Gourmet Girl Denise here with the news of the week.
We are headed to Jacksonville, Oregon this week for a book signing and to serve up three delectable little bites from our cookbook “The Gourmet Girls Go Camping” at the beautiful Dancin Vineyards, where our hosts Dan and Cindy Marca will be pairing a flight of three of their wonderful wines with our recipes. We will be there this coming Saturday the 19th and Sunday the 20th from noon till 5 p.m., serving tastes of our Ceviche, a new recipe for deviled quail eggs, and tiny Spiced Lamb Burgers with Harissa Mayo on miniature brioche buns.Yum!
Gourmet Girls at large Seyburn Zorthian of Buttonwood Vineyards here in Solvang, CA. will be joining the fun, as well as Wendy Overend from the Seattle area and our ‘Hostess with the Mostess’ Laurie, an alumni Gourmet Girl who lives in Jacksonville and designed the landscape at Dancin Vineyards. We can’t wait to see her handiwork! She will also be putting us up for the evenings for which we are forever grateful. Especially since it is the weekend of the total eclipse of the sun, and folks are flocking to the area to view this amazing phenom that hasn’t been viewed in the continental U.S. since 1918.
Oregon is one of the many states in the U.S. on Monday the 21st where you will be able to see the eclipse in totality, meaning the moon will completely cover the sun. Here is the path of the eclipse across the U.S.A.
All of the hotels and B and B’s are booked solid in south east Oregon about now and there are no available cars to rent. But we campers and RVers don’t care! We can pull into a campground, pitch a tent, or hook up the RV to experience this event. So grab a pair of eclipse viewing glasses, and head on up! And don’t forget your copy of ‘The Gourmet Girls Go Camping Cookbook’ !
Until next week, keep on cooking and camping!
